The editorial team of IGN named The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom the best game of 2023. Journalists noted that choosing a winner this year was not easy, as stunning titles were released almost every month.

In the end, Nintendo managed to once again provide users with absolute freedom of action, similar to what they experienced in the previous Breath of the Wild, according to the portal's journalists. The game is literally in the hands of gamers, and they can play it however they wish. The adventure begins and ends with them.

Other nominees for the title of "Game of the Year" included Baldur's Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and the remake of Resident Evil 4.

Also mentioned were Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Dave the Diver, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, Dead Space, Metroid Prime Remastered, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Lies of P, Hi-Fi Rush, and Cocoon.
