Filming of "The Witcher" Season 4 Moved to 2024

It seems we won't see Geralt, played by Liam Hemsworth, before 2025.

The strike by American screenwriters, which has recently included actors, continues to disrupt the release plans for films and series. According to Redanian Intelligence, the creators of the fourth season of "The Witcher" are postponing filming.

Work on the season began in the fall of 2022, and initially, filming was scheduled to take place from September 2023 to May 2024. Now, insiders have informed the publication that the start has been pushed to 2024. The exact reason is unknown to the authors of Redanian Intelligence, but they speculate that it is indeed due to the strikes.

Exact timelines for the start of filming and release have not yet been announced. However, it is unlikely that the new season will arrive on Netflix before 2025. Even if the creators decide to split the season into two parts, releasing the first part in 2024 will only be possible if filming starts right in January and proceeds without any issues or delays.

For comparison, the third season was filmed from March 31 to September 12, 2022, and was released in the summer of 2023. This is approximately 14 months of filming and post-production.

As a reminder, starting from the fourth season, the role of Geralt will transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth. The producers of the series have already hinted at how this transition might be explained in the script.
