Mood Color Blue: NASA Unveils Stunning New 4K Mars Video

The NASA space agency has shared a new video from the surface of Mars in 4K resolution. It was compiled from numerous photos taken with the powerful HIRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

The video showcases the rugged terrain inside an ancient crater over 270 kilometers wide. It features dried-up streams, steep rocky slopes, and other landscape features of the Red Planet. This region is called "Aram Chaos."

The immediate absence of the usual red hues of Mars and the predominance of blue color stand out. This is due to the vast amount of basalt - a volcanic rock formed on the planet during its volcanic activity.

The HIRISE camera can detect even very small objects, such as a kitchen table. This capability makes the video highly detailed.
