"My name is Troy. Around July 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine I felt compelled to travel to Ukraine and help out in any way I could. I’m retired Australian military and I have a solid background in Combat Medicine. I travelled to Kyiv with Taskforce Yankee, an American based NGO and eventually found a position at the School of Tactical Medicine in Kyiv as a lead instructor teaching Combat Life Saving courses to members of the Ukrainian military. I can’t emphasize how important this mission is, or how dedicated and passionate the Ukrainian soldiers and instructors are at the Center for Tactical Medicine (CTM). This work has a direct impact on Ukrainian soldiers going to the front line.It was an absolute honour to work alongside the dedicated and extremely hard working instructors at the CTM. And teaching the men and women of the Ukrainian military is some of my proudest work.I’m now on my second trip to Ukraine and plan to continue working at the CTM. This would not have been possible without the help of people from Ukraine SOS NGO, who despite their busy workload made time to help me to get a visa, which allows me to come back and continue my mission.
