During the occupation of Kharkiv region, the invaders kidnapped and killed the writer Volodymyr Vakulenko
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, the abduction and illegal deprivation of liberty of the writer occurred at the end of March 2022, when russian troops captured the village of Kapitolivka. The crime was resulted from the report of local collaborators to the occupiers. Later it became known that Volodymyr buried his records in the garden, they will be transferred to the Kharkiv Literary Museum.
The information about the writer's death in Izyum was confirmed by a DNA examination. His body was found in a mass grave. In addition to the DNA examination, the writer's shot documents and a tattoo on his hand, similar to what he had, were also found. He left a minor son with a disability.
Volodymyr Vakulenko was a writer, poet, public figure, volunteer. Editor and co-editor of several printed projects, organizer and participant of numerous literary events and festivals. Laureate of the international literary prize named after Oles Ulyanenko, the All-Ukrainian contest named after Les Martovych, and the international contest "Coronation of words". Despite his atheistic views, he actively supported the establishment of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
