🇬🇧🇩🇪🇪🇺🇪🇸🇮🇹🇨🇦🇳🇱🇺🇸🇫🇷🇯🇵 Today, the Leaders of Canada, the European Council, the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States met on the margins of the G20 Summit in Bali and released the following statement:
We condemn the barbaric missile attacks that Russia perpetrated on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure on Tuesday.
We discussed the explosion that took place in the eastern part of Poland near the border with Ukraine. We offer our full support for and assistance with Poland’s ongoing investigation. We agree to remain in close touch to determine appropriate next steps as the investigation proceeds.
We reaffirm our steadfast support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the face of ongoing Russian aggression, as well as our continued readiness to hold Russia accountable for its brazen attacks on Ukrainian communities, even as the G20 meets to deal with the wider impacts of the war. We all express our condolences to the families of the victims in Poland and Ukraine.

Adopted
Today the UN General Assembly recognised that Russia must be held accountable for its aggression against Ukraine.
Adopted by 94 to 14 votes, the #UNGA resolution recommends the establishment of a registry of damages & recognises the need for compensation for damages caused.
💬 EU Ambassador to the UN:
Under international law, Russia is under an obligation to make full reparation for the damage caused by its internationally wrongful act. There is no question of whether Russia should pay, but rather of when it will pay, and how much.

🇪🇺The European Commission has proposed an unprecedented support package for Ukraine of up to €18 billion for 2023.
This stable, regular and predictable financial assistance – averaging €1.5 billion per month – will help cover a significant part of Ukraine's short-term funding needs for 2023
Thanks to this package, Ukraine will be able to keep on paying wages and pensions and maintain essential public services running, such as hospitals, schools, and housing for relocated people.
It will also allow Ukraine to ensure macroeconomic stability, and restore critical infrastructure destroyed by Russia in its war of aggression, such as energy infrastructure, water systems, transport networks, roads and bridges.

🇪🇺🇰🇿 New strategic partnership between the EU and Kazakhstan concluded today
Raw materials, batteries and renewable hydrogen value chains are critical to the green and digital transitions.
The European Union is already by far the largest foreign investor in Kazakhstan, with 60% of the stock of foreign direct investment.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed today at COP27 between the EU and Kazakhstan aims to further expand the relationship between the two countries and ensure the development of a secure and sustainable supply of raw materials and refined materials.
It also aims to develop renewable hydrogen and battery value chains, to boost the green and digital transformation of both sides' economies.
The EU and Kazakhstan have committed to develop a Roadmap for 2023-2024, with concrete joint actions agreed within six months of the signature of the Partnership.
These actions are to be carried out in close cooperation with relevant industrial and financial stakeholders from the EU Member States and Kazakhstan.

🇪🇺 The latest #EUDataCrunch on grain exports from Ukraine
The Kremlin has prevented Ukraine’s grain from reaching countries that need it most.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its blockade of Ukrainian ports, Ukrainian grain and other agricultural goods can no longer reach their destinations.
The war in Ukraine has led to a 35% decline in wheat production. The situation is threatening global food security and there is an urgent need to establish alternative logistics routes using all relevant transport modes.
That is why the European Union has introduced EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes to help get Ukraine’s grain moving again. Find out more about it in the infographics above 👆

🇪🇺The world's leading experts on reconstruction gathered today for the Conference on the Recovery, Reconstruction and Modernization of Ukraine.
💬 President von der Leyen said:
First, we need to make sure that Ukraine at all times gets the support it needs – from relief, to rehabilitation, to long-term reconstruction.
Second, we need the right architecture in place to make support as broad and as inclusive as possible.
And third, as Ukraine has achieved candidate status to access the European Union, we need to firmly embed Ukraine's reconstruction efforts as part of its path towards the European Union
.”
The European Commission is working with our Member States so that the Union could support Ukraine with up to EUR 1.5 billion every month of the war, which would be in sum round about EUR 18 billion in 2023.
We can never match the sacrifices Ukrainians are making every day. But we can stand with them and provide what they need – for relief, fast rehabilitation and reconstruction.
