📧 Writing Task 1: The structure that always worksOne of the biggest mistakes CELPIP test takers make in Task 1 is starting to write without a plan. They know what they want to say — but the email ends up disorganized, repetitive, or incomplete.A simple structure fixes most of this. Here's the 6-part email formula (yes, six — there's one step almost everyone forgets):1. GreetingStart naturally and appropriately.Examples: Dear Manager, / Hello John, / Dear Customer Service Team,2. Purpose StatementTell the reader exactly why you're writing — within the first few seconds.Example: "I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent changes to the community parking policy."3. Address Every Part of the Prompt ⚠️This is the step people skip. CELPIP Task 1 always gives you 2-4 specific things to cover — not just one. Before you write, underline every task in the question. A beautifully written email that misses one bullet point still loses marks, no matter how polished the rest is.4. Main DetailsDon't write one long paragraph — organize clearly. For each point: the issue, an explanation, a specific detail or example.5. Maintain the Right ToneA complaint or request isn't permission to sound angry.❌ "Your service was terrible and completely unacceptable."✅ "I was disappointed with the service and would appreciate a resolution."6. Closing Statement & Sign-OffEnd politely and clearly.Example: "Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon."Sincerely, / Best regards, / Kind regards,
