Hail Ty Wingate Jones!Hail the Einherjar!ᛉ September 6, 1997ᛣ December 3, 2025Today, the Raven Folk United mourns the loss of a brother and a true warrior who gave his life defending the freedom of Ukraine.When the full-scale invasion began, Ty saw the cruelty of a war of aggression and chose to stand with the Ukrainian people, arriving in January 2024 to fight for their right to live and be free. Intelligent, personable, and armed with a unique sense of humor, he quickly found his calling in Med Team Alpha.Ty's physical and moral resilience were undeniable. While preparing for the Belgorod raids in early 2024, he suffered a heavy concussion during a quad bike crash. Refusing to be sidelined, he fought to return to his team immediately, and by May 2024, he became one of the first foreigners to earn the official VOS-878 Combat Medic certification.He stepped into the blasted hellscape of Lyptsi in the summer of 2024, proving his absolute dedication by saving severely injured frontline personnel during intense combat operations. In the spring of 2025 during a Zaporizhia deployment, he survived an FPV drone destroying his evacuation vehicle, escaping with minor injuries and continuing his vital work. His unmatched skill and competence led to his promotion to Deputy Team Leader of Med Team Alpha on November 1, 2025.During his final deployment in Stepnohirsk that fall, Ty and a teammate stood alone for weeks as the only medical support available in the entire city, treating severe casualties from both Legion elements and regular Ukrainian troops.On December 3, 2025, Ty responded to a critically injured 1SQN member. As the senior medic on site, he knew the soldier would not survive without constant care en route to the stabilization point. Despite his previous, harrowing encounters with drones and vehicles, Ty courageously volunteered to ride back with the casualty. Tragically, a large Russian fixed-wing drone struck their evacuation vehicle, ending the life of a true hero. He fought to his last breath and died exactly as he lived—saving the life of his brother in arms.Beyond his fierce courage on the battlefield, Ty's loss echoes deeply at home. He leaves behind a beautiful newborn baby and a loving wife, a devastating tragedy that highlights the ultimate sacrifice he made.We honor his memory and venerate this true defender.
